About Us

At Urban Wildlife Specialists, Inc. we strongly believe that people and wildlife can and should coexist in metropolitan environments. People have made dramatic changes in the environment and these changes, at times, can lead to overabundant populations of deer, geese and other species of wildlife, resulting in damage to habitats and personal property. People, there- fore must accept the responsibility of managing wildlife to maintain populations which are in balance with the available habitat and levels of human tolerance.

Urban Wildlife Specialists, Inc. can help you solve problems associated with an overabundance of deer, geese, turkeys, and other wildlife species to ensure their health and future enjoyment by residents of your community. At Urban Wildlife Specialists, Inc. we take pride in providing professional, safe and humane wildlife management alternatives based on ecologically sound, science-based principles.

Urban Wildlife Specialists, Inc. has been providing professional deer removal services since 1982 when we designed and implemented a winter sharpshooting deer removal program at the University of Wisconsin (UW) Arboretum in Madison. As part of a two-year UW research project, we studied the costs and relative efficiencies of several methods used to reduce deer populations at the UW Arboretum. The results of this study, published in 1984 in The Wildlife Society Bulletin (Volume 12, No. 4), demonstrated that sharpshooting during winter over baited sites was far more cost-effective and efficient than live-capture (box traps, rocket nets, drive nets, or darting with tranquilizers) and removal.

During the last 25 years we have assisted numerous municipalities and institutions with the development and implementation of winter sharpshooting programs and our specialists have safely and efficiently removed more than 2,700 deer from urban/suburban areas. We are fully insured.

Although we specialize in winter sharpshooting for urban deer control, our personnel are trained and experienced in the use of a wide range of live-capture methods used to reduce overabundant populations of waterfowl and wild turkey as well as deer.
